Kenya! woohoo! I am so excited!
Today we found had a team meeting, the team got their flight information and itinerary. One other student and myself don't yet have our tickets so I have to admit that was a bit stressful to watch. During the meeting we found out what we will be doing, we will be doing a lot of preaching and teaching (teaching people English), we will be working with children, orphanages and village children, as well as anything else the Lord brings into our path! I can not wait.
So a few weeks ago our whole base went to Talladega, Alabama for the YWAM southeast conference. It was so amazing. The first thing I want to comment on is the sleeping situation. It was two girls to a room, with two queen size beds. I felt like I was in heaven, our living conditions here at the base are not quite so... pampering in my room we have four bunk beds, three beds high. and then fourteen girls share one bathroom (with two showers and one mirror). Needless to say me and my roomie Andrea were psyched. Here is a little something from Andrea's blog that explains the first few minutes in the hotel room:
Okay first of all I need to take a little time to reenact the true story of my excitement when I discovered my sleeping arrangements... *JUMPING ON BED* OHMYGOSH I HAVE A QUEEN SIZE BED ALL TO MYSELF AND I ONLY HAVETO SHARE MY ROOM WITH ONE PERSON WAHHHHHH JESUSLOOOVESMEEE!!!*NOW JUMPING FROM MY BED TO MY ROOMMATE'S BED* I'M GOING TO HAVE THE BEST SLEEP EVER!!! *NOW ROLLING AROUND IN THE COVERS ALONG WITH CONTINUING TO JUMP AROUND LIKE A CRAZY PERSON*
I love her so much.
The conference itself was quite amazing. The name was Acts One Gathering, the speakers name was Brian Brennt. His main focus was being a 'soul winner', we are suppose to be like Jesus and Jesus was the greatest soul winner of all. This man was really anointed though and his words cut straight into my heart on more then one occasion. Being a soul winner MEANS: functioning under the Kingdom culture. What does that look like? 1.) Desperation to experience life change (desperation is when every one else fades away. Are you willing to look stupid for a moment?). 2.) Fear of God overcoming the fear of man (are you ready for people to gossip about you and say you aren't cool). 3.) Whole hearted and joy filled repentance (you hate it [sin], drop it, RUN! 4.) Overcoming faith that dedicates new life, meaning not dwelling on the old man, but functioning in I am a new creation in Christ and I am already NEW!
Two major things that stuck out to me:
1.) UNBELIEF IS NOT BEING CAUTIOUS IT IS DOUBTING THE CHARACTER OF GOD.
2.) I DON'T HAVE AN OPTION TO NOT BEING BRAVE, IF I'M NOT THIS GENERATION IS GONE.
I have decided I am part of a historic movement (movement- a force that can not be stopped). The Lord is calling me, as well as those I am walking with, to live a life radically before Him, and in order to live a radical life/have a radical experience you MUST have radical obedience. The question the Lord has been asking me is, -"Are you ready to be unpredictable?" - I think I am, why? Because I am tired of living a life of predictable and boring Christianity. I am ready to put my buckle on and say, "send me Lord, where ever you choose."
I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
“ Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”
Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
“ Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”
Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
So this is what has been going on in my heart the last few weeks. :)
On Saturday a group of us went to downtown Charlotte and played music on the streets and talked to people about Jesus. We had so much fun, and there where a few people we really connected with.
I love you all and I really thank you for the prayers and finances you have already invested in me! Keep the prayers coming, and again please seek the Lord if He is laying it on your heart to give in anyway.
